Festival of Light
In R.E, we have been thinking about ‘Why is light an important symbol?’ We started by looking at Hindu beliefs and reading the story of Rama and Sita. We discussed how Hindus celebrate Diwali with lots of light and colour to show that ‘light shines out over darkness’ and that ‘good wins over evil’.
We made our own Diva lamps out of clay adding some lovely patterns and then painting them in lots of bright colours! We also created posters to show what we have learned about Diwali.
Next we will be learning about Judaism and the Jewish festival ‘Hanukkah’, and then the Christian festival ‘Christmas’!
Recently, Owl Class had a discussion about climate change, what it is and how we can help! We linked it to our art, learning about secondary colours, and created some posters telling people about 'reducing our carbon footprint!' The children all enjoyed mixing colours and getting messy feet!
